Course Description

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables.

It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to ESI workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

Note: Those holding an existing ESI or Electrotechnology qualification or equivalent meet the prerequisite unit requirements.

The application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace.

Other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing this unit.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to participate in the course you must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Minimum 16 years
  • Photo ID check
  • Basic command of English language
  • Must have necessary health and fitness to carry out duties safely

Assessment

Assessments both theory and practical will be explained to students at the commencement of the course and conducted throughout the course duration. 

Some examples of assessment will be group participation, theory questions, work type activities and practical demonstrations and observations.

Locations

Training/assessment can be conducted at Jenagar Pty Ltd's Training Centre – 73 Racecourse Road, Richmond Hill  Q  4820 or on your site providing the following requirements are met:

  • Signed agreement to train on site
  • All necessary equipment on Jenagar Pty Ltd’s equipment list available and in good condition
  • Training room with tables, chairs and screen (or blank wall for a projector)
